Back To The Basics

In this netcast, I talk about some basics that I want to get back to in my quest to move forward with my business plan. I attended Bootstrap Sessions last night with Nathan Hangen and Susan Baker, and I had a great discussion with them at the end of the webinar during the Q&A.

Why more people don’t take advantage of these Q&A’s baffles me, there was one other person that asked a question during this webinar, and I don’t understand why you wouldn’t want to take advantage of being able to ask direct questions to people that charge hundred of dollars per hour for their time! Believe me when I tell you this, they want you to ask questions! The only stupid question, is the one that doesn’t get asked!

Back To The Basics:

What I came away with after the webinar, was a whole new outlook on my business plan! I got value out of the first Bootstrap Session because I asked for it. I realize now what I have been doing wrong, and what I need to change.

I won’t bore you with all the details, but I am working on prioritizing my schedule, and I plan to incorporate more time for product development, and eliminate projects that are “hobbies” (other than one that I am starting just because I love the topic and have a passion for it). There will be some hard decisions to make, but they must be made.

Making It Too Complicated:

I am really good at making things more complicated than they need to be. I decided about 7 months ago that I wanted to help other people learn how to market their businesses through use of a blog and social media, but even more than that I want to teach people how to make money with a legitimate e-commerce business, similar to how I do right now.

I have spent the last 7mos wasting a lot of time with “ideas” and not enough time taking “action”. That changes TODAY!

Bloggywood Squares:

On a different note, there is a new online gameshow coming out that I will be a guest of for 2 shows (maybe more). It’s 100% free to join in and have a little fun. If you remember the Hollywood Squares gameshow from way back, the format will be just like that. Head over to Bloggywood Squares to get registered and have a little fun! One lucky winner will get a free membership to Beyond Blogging Project valued at over $700.

Absolutely! I try not jump on everything that might work but to do the basic stuff for the things I've started so far. Especially because I need to learn so much more. When I get all the basics right, then I could think about other things. But until then, I stick with working on a solid foundation…

  2. Where did I say I didn't put effort into my ideas Joe? The point was that it is time to take action….

Yeah, read your own words – “I have spent the last 7mos wasting a lot of time with “ideas” and not enough time taking “action”. That changes TODAY!”

If you aren't going to put enough effort into your ideas, you won't have anything to put action into. That was my whole comment.

  4. Are you commenting on the right post? I really don't know if you even read the article or not Joe.

  5. Joe Boyle says:

I disagree. Although you shouldn't make everything too complicated, you need some time to format your ideas. If you just jump into something without planning it out, you'll end up like one of my failing websites.

What happened was I had a couple of friends who gave me a punch of ideas, but I acted on them too quick. If you aren't going to plan out your battle plan, the other team will move in from the left and capture your fort, right?

    Never-the-less, great post, Keith.

  6. It is very easy to do. Ideas swim around all the time, especially if you have an entrepreneurial nature, everything you look at has $ signs!

  7. Eric says:

I feel too many bloggers have gotten the wrong ideas and branched too far out and lost focus. I'm currently working on getting myself to do projects myself instead of focusing on starting up new things.

The one thing I've found is that when you find something that works, definitely stick with it and work hard not to stray away because it's what will keep you going through to the end.
